"Stubborn Love" - The Lumineers

Sorry too busy doing things like this to blog!
Sorry I've been a bad blogger again but I was off enjoying Europe.. and Mexico.. and life!  Good news is I picked up some new songs in between here and there and have a list of to-blogs. I started listening to The Lumineers before my Euro-trip, as a couple of friends had suggested songs to me.  Most people are probably familiar with their single, "Ho Hey", probably not as many with "Stubborn Love."  That's OK, I never mind taking the road less travelled.

Will I ever get tired of blogging about complicated (or simple) love songs?  Probably not.  As I've mentioned the whole love thing is fascinating to me, and I love (pun kind of intended) hearing what other people have to say about it.

First of all I like the title best, "Stubborn Love."  I know exactly that feeling of wanting to be with someone so bad that your eyelids hurt but your head is telling you to run the other way.  I find that when it comes to love, especially the stubborn kind,  your heart and your head rarely want the same thing.

The Lumineers
The Lumineers self-titled album debuted not even a year ago in April 2012.  As of December 2012 the album has been certified gold in the US, Canada and Ireland.

The Lumineers remind me of bands I've previously blogged about like The Old Crow Medicine Show or Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, whose music seem to reach beyond their years.  Their folksy, echoey, catchy songs give me hope that there is a future for the music industry after all, and that we won't have to settle for playing our Bob Dylan, Rolling Stone and Led Zeppelin CD's till they melt.

She'll lie and steal and cheat,
And beg you from her knees
Make you thinks she means it this time
She'll tear a hole in you, the one you can't repair
But I still love her, I don't really care

When we were young,
Oh oh, we did enough
When it got cold,
Ooh ooh, we bundled up
I can't be told,
Ah ah it can't be done

It's better to feel pain, than nothing at all
The opposite of love's indifference
So pay attention now,
I'm standing on your porch screaming out
And I won't leave until you come downstairs

So keep your head up, keep your love
Keep your head up, my love
Keep your head up, my love
Keep your head up, keep your love
And I don't blame ya dear

For running like you did, all these years
I would do the same, your best believe
And the highway signs say we're close,
But I don't read those things anymore
I never trusted my own eyes

When we were young
Oh oh, we did enough
When it got cold,
Ooh ooh we bundled up

I can't be told,
Ah ah, can't be done

Keep your head up, keep your love
Keep your head up, my love
Keep your head up, my love
Keep your head up, keep your love

Head up, love
Head up, love
Head up, love
Head up, love
